St. Francis-St Maxmilian Parish at 23965 Twenty-Three Mile Rd., Macomb, MI 48042 US - Parish Nurses

Parish Nurses

PARISH NURSE Jan. 2008

Training and contract through Henry Ford Hospital Faith Community Nursing Network and St. Francis/St Maximilian.
Programs are provided with support of Christian Service Commission.

Program/Church Liason: Donna Belli

A Parish Nurse can be described as a Minister of Health. The focus of all services and activities is wholistic... for a healthy mind, body and spirit.

A parish nurse is a professional registered nurse who is a health educator, a personal health counselor, organizer of support groups, a referral agent and liason with congregational and community resources, an integrator of faith and health and a health advocate. Services provided are determined by each particular church congregation and identified needs, and also by the vision and response of each nurse.

Over the past eight years various programs have been offered to the St. Maximilian/ St. Francis Parish Community. These include:

General Health Information ( A series of health information for any adult)
Parent Support group for moms
Senior support group (whatever focus / need)
Grief Support
Blood Pressure Screening every 3 months
Blood Drive every 6 months
Nutrition & Exercise
Ongoing at this time: Weekly Bulletin articles
MCREST medication services coordination
Individual support with information , health teaching and referral
Attendance at monthly support meetings at Henry Ford Faith Community Nursing Network
Blood Drive every 6 month
Available as resource to parish community

A new program through the network (Call to Care ) is a concentrated home / personal support program for people with Congestive Heart Failure and/ or Diabetes. This was started this spring. Current Caseload 3 on this project.
