St. Francis-St Maxmilian Parish at 23965 Twenty-Three Mile Rd., Macomb, MI 48042 US - Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical Ministry Opportunities:

Minister of Hospitality:

The first person people meet when they participate at Mass is the Greeter.  They function as the ones who greet, welcome, help with the preparation of the gifts, and gather the time, talent and treasures of the assembly.  They try to make sure that there is a sense of Community within the Assembly.

Eucharistic Minister:

The EM takes part in serving and sharing the Eucharist with the Assembly.  Those who are Ministers help to distribute either the Body or Blood of Christ to the Community. The sharing in this ministry can be on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.

Lector:

Those who proclaim the Word of the Lord must prepare ahead of time for this important Ministry.  It is important that the Word of God be in their hearts and on their lips.  They proclaim the Word on a regular basis according to the Mass attended and the frequency they wish to minister.

Senior Acolyte/ Master of Ceremonies:

The Acolyte's job is to see that all is in readiness before the Liturgy begins.  During the Liturgy, they assist the Presider by anticipating his needs and helping the Liturgy to flow beautifully.

Senior Acolytes who are experienced and reliable may then be promoted to the job of overseeing the entire Liturgy as a Master of Ceremonies.

Junior Acolyte:

Boys and girls who have received their First Communion and attend three training sessions can assist by serving at the altar and providing the Light, a solemn and important part of the Liturgy.  In doing so, they learn the details and flow of the Liturgy, which enables them to participate on a deeper level.

Sacristan:

The Sacristan would help with setting up for liturgical functions, keeping the sacristy functional and tidy, and helping with cleaning of altar linens and keeping the vestments and altar server robes clean, neat, and repaired.

Art/Environmental Team:

Members of this Ministry are asked to meet with the Worship coordinator once a month to plan the environment of the Church for the upcoming seasons.  They are also asked to decorate and redecorate the Church as the seasons and feasts suggest.
