Our parish community will be hosting 30 homeless men, women and children here at St. Francis the week of February
14-21, 2010 the MCREST (Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team) program. If you are new to our parish or just new to the MCREST program, this is an open invitation for you to consider sharing some of your time and talents for this big project. It’s a wonderful opportunity for parish fellowship and outreach to our brothers and sisters in need. Sound a little intimidating? That’s a normal reaction for anyone considering helping with this program, but you can be assured that there will be other volunteers to help you, and soon you will love the experience, as it challenges you in body, mind, and spirit.Consider kicking off Lent in a big way this year (February 17 time to assist others in need. We are looking for help in the following areas:

Hairdresser/Barber - We are looking for someone that would be willing to provide haircuts for our guests either Monday (15th) or Tuesday (16th)•
Overnight Supervision – 10pm-6:30am (or we’ll split the shift if you can do half) Sun-Sat•
Transportation – some of our guests work and do not have transportation. We need drivers whoare available in the mornings before 7am or in the evenings
after 7pm to do ‘special runs’ to be determined when our guests arrive. Sun-Sun

Security – general supervision and fellowship for our guests in the evenings from 5:30pm-10:30pm Sun Sat•
Daily Clean Up
Laundry – Wash/dry/fold & transport to the church 2-3 loads of guest laundry. Pick up at8:15am/ Drop back off by 5:30pm on Tues (16th), Thurs (18th) and/or Sat.(20th).– Tidy and clean the living spaces and bathrooms each morning Mon-Sat, approximately 8:15am-10:00am.
Various Food/Sundry Items

Transportation Coordinator – arranges for transportation for each guest during our week. Thi includes setting up individual driver volunteers, coordinating specialized public transportation, providing bus schedules, troubleshooting problems, and effectively communicating with Coordinators, Volunteers and Guests. Whether you are new to MCREST or a seasoned veteran, we need your help and input. Please
join us for a short planning meeting between the 8am and 10am Mass on Sunaday, January 31st.
Oversees the preparation and execution of the entire local program. This includes effective communication with the professional MCREST Staff, the local area coordinators, volunteers,and guests to ensure a successful week. On-the-job training provided. Rewards exceed efforts.gather in the
