Christian Service
Christian Service Commission Description ~
"Love one another as I have loved you."
The Christian Service Commission strives to put the social teachings of the Catholic Church into action. This commission empowers the members of the parish to fulfill the Church's mission of love, justice, freedom and peace by responding as a faith community to individual and social needs. They serve as an umbrella for many other parish organizations serving the community.

Do you know anyone who needs food?
Do you know that all the food you donate each week makes a difference in how many meals we can pack our recipients for a week?
Do you know that any monetary donation makes a difference in how much we can offer?
Do you know that our volunteers pick up the food from the county, stock our shelves, pack our orders?
Do you know that you can help with our pantry by volunteering? If this is something you might be interested in, please call Peggy Martin at 586.598.3314 ext. 307 for more information.

Prayer Blankets
Do you crochet? Knit? Quilt? Can you tie knots? Christian Outreach Commission is calling all people interested in making blankets.
Would you be interested in donating your time as you watch TV at night to make a prayer blanket for a sick parishioner? The blankets will be given to any parishioner fighting through an illness. Our blankets will remind them that the parish is praying for them. Hopefully this will give them comfort. You can start this project immediately.
The blanket size should be lap size (or crib size - a little larger than a receiving blanket but smaller than a single bed size) – so that it would be easily transported with the patient to the hospital, or to wrap around shoulders or legs while in bed or wheelchair. The blanket can be of any regular blanket or quilt material but should be easy to wash. We will gather the blankets throughout the spring and summer. Is anyone interested in organizing the collection of these blankets?
In the fall we will have a healing mass where the ill in our parish can be anointed, blessed, and prayed over. At that time we will have the blankets blessed before they are distributed at the Mass and throughout the year. Let’s not have idle hands when they can give such comfort. For more information contact: Kathy Quayhackx at 586.749.8449.
We have had a donation for supplies if you would like to help but are on a limited budget – we’ll get you the material. We need you!!
